Des is an indie/electronic artist from Long Island who hit the scene in 2017 with his debut EP Eighty Six. He’s no rookie to the music scene, though. He got his start fronting indie rock band Gabriel the Marine. The group enjoyed considerable success playing shows alongside notable Long Island bands such as Taking Back Sunday and Glassjaw. Gabriel the Marine recently re-released their 2012 album Songs For The Endtime online, and it’s packed with dynamic songs Des had a big hand in crafting.

On our podcast, Des treated us to a live performance of “Don’t You Worry” as well as a new song, “Tear Us Apart”, that showcases his vocal strength and incredible songwriting prowess. We also talked about some of his main musical influences through his custom curated playlist Songs I Wish I Wrote.

Other topics in this laughter-ridden episode include Des’ experience seeing John Cena in Penn Station, smoking weed in high school, and our pitches for the next hit animated Pixar film.

Des is always on the move and keeping his social feeds interesting, so be sure to follow him!
